A stellar line-up of speakers will see optometry’s leading lights take to the stage as part of BCLA UK – as well as a health psychologist who will look at why parents say yes or no to contact lens use for their children.
The full programme for the event has now been unveiled, featuring a packed programme of insightful lectures, hands-on workshops and a dedicated Dry Eye track with the aim of improving confidence in contact lenses and enhancing the management of Dry Eye Disease and Ocular Surface Health.
For the first time the BCLA will welcome health psychologist Dr Clare Hallas, who will discuss the psychological driver of treatment decision making.
Nicola Logan will present a seminar giving straightforward guidance on incorporating myopia control into optometric practice, effective communication with both parent and child and the range of different interventions currently available.
A prestigious line-up of speakers will feature sessions including ‘Water habits of contact lens wearers’ by Professor Fiona Stapleton, Dr Michael Read will provide guidance on 'Which material for which patient’ and a peer review presentation on dry eye disease (DED) will be delivered by Professor James Wolffsohn .
Meanhwile, an interactive session on Grading will be led by Dr Marta Vianya-Estopa (BUCCLE) and further lectures will be delivered by Shehzad Naroo and Professor Phillip Morgan, who will ask delegates 'is it time to review contact lens clinical care?'.
The event will support eye care professionals deliver the best possible care for their patients in the field of contact lenses and anterior eye.
BCLA UK will be split over two cities for the first time this year, with the first session being held on Monday, 4 June at Conference Aston in Birmingham and the second scheduled for Sunday, 10 June at IET Savoy in London.
A track dedicated to Ocular Surface Health will support the newly launched Dry Eye Certificate. Spaces are limited and early booking is advised.
Hands-on workshops will be staged at each event, including sessions on fitting irregular corneas to include keratoconus, success with presbyopia and how to include a focus on fitting kids in your practice.
The event will also feature a dedicated Optical Assistants course run by Sarah Morgan. This course is bookable separately to the main event and spaces are limited, with advance booking recommended.
